Terms of Service
Last updated: August 2, 2026
Explore the systems we put in scope. Leave other users, infrastructure, and data alone. Play honestly, treat people decently, and tell us when the service itself breaks.
01 / Acceptance
By accessing or using CLI-Games (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
02 / The service
CLI-Games is a browser-based command-line platform offering games, story-driven worlds, Linux and security training, live competitions, community features, and optional paid support.
Some areas deliberately contain vulnerable systems. Authorization is limited to the target, time window, and actions identified by the challenge. Nothing on CLI-Games authorizes activity against systems outside that boundary.
03 / Accounts
- You may use parts of the Service without an account.
- You must provide accurate account information and protect your credentials.
- One person may not operate multiple accounts to evade restrictions or manipulate competition.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- The separate Founder and Referral Terms govern Founder status, the lifetime ad-free guarantee, and Founder referrals.
04 / Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Access another user's account, private data, or out-of-scope system.
- Continue testing beyond the target and boundaries stated by a security challenge.
- Use automation, multiple accounts, or exploits to falsify scores or gain an unfair advantage.
- Disrupt the Service, evade rate limits, or interfere with another player's session.
- Harass, threaten, impersonate, or expose personal information about another person.
- Post or transmit unlawful content or malware outside an explicitly authorized exercise.
- Exploit a vulnerability in the Service itself instead of reporting it through
bugreportor support.
05 / Content and ownership
CLI-Games owns the Service and its original software, game content, artwork, and branding. You retain ownership of content you create. When you publish content in a shared space, you grant CLI-Games the permission needed to store, moderate, and display it as part of the Service.
Some game surfaces carry short pieces of player-written text, such as the name painted on a claimed roadsign or a note left on placed gear. This text passes a language filter before it appears, and we remove what the filter misses when it is reported — but filtering is best effort, and no filter catches everything the internet can type. Report anything that slipped through with the bugreport command.
06 / Scores and competitions
- Scores and captures must come from legitimate play within the stated rules.
- We may investigate, correct, or remove results affected by cheating, automation, abuse, or a defect.
- Rolling leaderboard windows, event rules, and standings may change or reset.
- Competition decisions may be reviewed when evidence supports it, but final moderation decisions remain ours.
07 / Payments and virtual items
Optional subscriptions and donations are processed by the payment providers shown at checkout. Charges, renewal terms, and cancellation controls are presented before purchase. Refunds are provided where required by law; otherwise voluntary donations are non-refundable.
Keys, inventory, currency, and other virtual items have no cash value and cannot be redeemed outside the Service.
08 / Moderation and termination
We may restrict or terminate access when an account violates these Terms, threatens another person, or puts the Service at risk. You may delete your own account with deleteaccount or contact support if you cannot access the terminal.
09 / Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW. WE DO NOT PROMISE THAT THE SERVICE WILL ALWAYS BE AVAILABLE, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.
Security exercises are educational. They are not authorization to test third-party systems and are not a substitute for professional, legal, or compliance advice.
10 / Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CLI-GAMES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM USE OF THE SERVICE.
11 / Changes and applicable law
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. The date above shows the latest revision. Mandatory consumer rights and laws that apply in your location are not waived by these Terms.
12 / Contact
Questions, account issues, and legal notices: [email protected]
Product defects can also be reported from the terminal with bugreport.
