Castline
Cast a line. Settle in.
A quiet afternoon by the water, interrupted by a fish on the line. Find the rhythm, then decide what goes in your cooler.
Play
- Space / Enter - begin
- Arrows / WASD - aim and choose depth
- Hold and release Space / Enter - cast
- Up, Right, Down, Left - reel clockwise after a bite
- K - keep the fish
- X - release the fish
- P - pause
- R - resume
- N - play again
Progression and score
Hold and release to cast. A bite takes 30 seconds to three minutes of active play. Watch the bobber dip, then tap Up, Right, Down, Left in a clockwise rhythm. Turn when the line gauge is green; larger fish need a slower cadence. Rushing strains and snaps the line. Waiting too long lets it go slack. Each catch takes 3–8 rotations. Inspect the species, length and weight, then choose Keep or Release. Your cooler has a 12 kg packing threshold; the last fish goes in whole. When it fills, pack up and head home. There is no bait limit. Kept weight earns 100 points per kilogram; this release uses local practice scores.
While you wait
Type /radio to tune in. Use radio next, radio prev, or radio porch|drift|dusk to change stations. sandwich, drink and journal are optional ways to settle in. No hunger or stamina meters. The radio currently uses temporary library recordings.
Write your own approach
Launch castline --script or type script during play. Edit policy.sh, chmod +x policy.sh, then ./policy.sh. fixtures chooses repeatable practice; standard returns to manual play. Stop cancels. Files survive re-entry. GIF, replay and receipt exports are local practice. This workspace runs a separate practice game; a background helper attached to your manual outing is not included.
Try scripts try castline-starter in a disposable practice workspace. To adapt it, clone the reviewed repository in the CLI-Games terminal:
git clone https://forge.cli-games.com/cli-games/game-starters.git ~/scripts/game-starters
castline --script
cd ~/scripts/game-starters/castline-starter
nano policy.sh
./policy.sh
If you already have a clean clone, use git pull inside it to obtain newly published examples. After leaving the game, return to the example directory to record edits:
cd ~/scripts/game-starters/castline-starter
git diff
git add policy.sh
git commit -m "Tune my example"
Keep LICENSE.txt and attribution when sharing. Cloning never runs a program or replaces edits.
Replace a fixed cadence with tension feedback. autoreel.sh in the game workspace demonstrates this and leaves the keep/release decision to you.
Use man castline for the reference, or play Castline.
