Kiln

Match free ceramic tiles in mahjong solitaire. Peel back the stack at your own pace, with hints and undo when you need them.

Remove two tiles with the same picture until the table is empty. A tile is free when nothing covers its top and at least one horizontal side is open. Bright tiles are available; dim tiles are blocked. Arrows or Tab choose a free tile; Space selects it. Find its twin and press Space again. The navy-and-white frame marks your cursor; a purple check marks the selected tile. The first stack has twelve tiles and a highlighted first pair. Later stacks contain 32, then 80 tiles. There is no timer.

Play controls

  • Arrows / WASD - choose an available tile
  • Tab - next available tile
  • Space / Enter - select or continue
  • X / Esc - cancel selection
  • Z - undo the last match
  • J - highlight a matching pair
  • V - re-stack the remaining tiles
  • P - pause
  • R - resume
  • N - play again

Score and progression

A pair earns 100 points plus a consecutive-match bonus up to 100. Clear a stack for 500 points and continue to another. Opening hints are free; later hints cost 25 points. Re-stacking costs 200 points. Scores are local practice, with no global leaderboard or saved runs. This is single-player mahjong solitaire, not traditional four-player mahjong.

A helper on your live board

Your terminal and game share one board from launch. nano helper.sh edits the saved starter; ./helper.sh & runs it alongside manual play. jobs lists helpers; stop stops them. Ctrl+C interrupts a foreground program. Edited files survive re-entry. Use delay for live helper timing; wait joins jobs. benchmark opens separate deterministic practice with GIF, replay and receipt exports; standard restores the same paused live board.

nano helper.sh
./helper.sh &
jobs
stop

The starter reports a legal pair while you choose what to match. scan pair returns two tile numbers; scan tiles exposes visible faces and uses null for covered faces. The helper sees the same information you do.

Sharing

Saved files use the shared editor, filesystem and Git tools. Review a helper before running it; preserve its author and license when adapting it. The existing forge contribution flow provides versions and source credit. Cloning never executes a script. See the terminal workspace guide.

Use man kiln for the command reference, or play Kiln.
